This paper, by Dr. Shai Secunda, attempts to ascertain to what extent Rashi's emendations of the text of Avodah Zarah can be viewed as products of his reasoning and intuition and to what extent they may be variant readings that he found in manuscripts and adopted.
Part I (ZIP File) contains a series of Excel speadsheets which register all the places where Rashi states that he is emending the text, reproduces the parallel readings of the available manuscripts of Avodah Zarah, Genizah fragments and the printed edition of Pizaro, 1510-1511. The contains three additional Excel files which summerize the data.
Part II (PDF File) contains the analysis of these detailed findings.
